The students will be working on Ch. 1 “Getting to Know the Workflow” and Ch. 2 ” Creating a Basic Animation Using Effects and Presets”. In Ch. 1, the students will learn to create a project and import footage; create compositions and arrange layers; navigate the Adobe After Effects interface; use the Project, Composition, and Timeline panels; transform layer properties; apply basic effects; create keyframes; preview work; customize the workspace; adjust preferences related to the user interface; and find additional resources for using After Effects. In Ch. 2, the students will learn to use Adobe Bridge to preview and import footage items, work with layers of an imported Adobe Illustrator file, use guides to position objects, apply drop-shadow and emboss effects, apply a text animation preset, adjust the time range of a text animation preset, precompose layers, apply a dissolve transition effect, adjust the transparency of a layer, and render an animation for broadcast use.

In Lesson 18, the students will learn to understand the export options, export single frames, export a master copy, match sequence settings, choose another codec, work with Adobe Media Encoder, choose a file format for export, configure the export, export effects, use the Source and Output panels, queue the export, look at additional options, in Adobe Media Encoder, exchange with other editing applications, and export to OMF.
